Adsense Tips And Tricks

With personal and commercial blogs, community websites, and social pages becoming the hot topic of the Internet in the last few years, many people have become more Internet-literate and are always looking for ways to make a few hundreds or even thousands from their websites.  This is when Google Adsense comes into play.  Google Adsense, unlike Affiliate Programs, is CPC (Pay-Per-Click) and the good thing about it, is you can still earn some bucks without making a sale.

Layout

1. Blend your ads to your website layout
This could be considered as one the most important things which is often overlooked.  Instead of using predefined colors provided by Google, try changing colors of your ads to match the website layout.  For example, if your website uses white background with green text, make sure you use the same colors for your ads.
2. Do not display a border
While you can’t get rid of the border around your ad, you can make it invisible by changing the border color to that of the background.  Researches have shown that ads without a visible border generate much higher clicks than those with one.
3. Do not place your ads in normal spots
Internet users have become accustomed to the normal ad spots and hence, any ads placed in those normal spots will often be aviod.
4. Choose the right ad formats
There are a few ad formats which perform better than others.  Some of the recommended ad formats are Wide Skyscrapper, Medium Rectangle and Horizontal Ads Links.  However, these ad formats may not necessarily work for everyone, so choose the ones that work for you.
5. Good layout design
Although a good layout design does not necessarily increase your Adsense revenue, it is important for the first impression and also for the professionalism.

Content

5. "Content is the king"
The fact that Adsense is contextual advertising implies that the ads being generated are often relevant to the website content.  That simply means you will not get any relevant ads if the content does not focus on a certain topic or the content is not text based.
6. Pick a high paying topic
It took me a while to find out that some words are being paid more than others. While Google does not tell you how much advertisers are paying for their keywords, it is pretty easy to guess.  For example, ads about credit cards, home loans and insurance are being paid more than those ads about free blogging tool, yellow pages, etc. It is also recommended to pick a Niche topic and provide a narrow focus than to pick a general topic.
7. Update your website frequently
Updating your website frequently enables you to get more visitors checking out your website which increases your page impression and the probability of ad clicks.
8. Write quality content
Not everyone possesses a natural talent in writing, and I can say for sure that I don’t.  However, if you offer something useful, interesting, and put your heart into writing, your readers will enjoy what you have to say.  And they will be coming back for more.

Organization

9. A good organizer is the winner
With Google Adsense, you can organize your ads and have a clear idea about their performance by using Channels.  This way, if a particular ad is not performing well, you could always replace it with a difference one.  There are quite a few things you could do with Channels and this is just one of them.
10. Monitor your statistics
Checking both your website and Adsense statistics enables you to get better ideas about your audiences.  From your website statistics, you can find out which pages are being viewed the most, where most of your traffics come from, what the peak day of the week is, etc.  Similarly, Adsense statistics will tell you which ad formats are being clicked the most, how many page impressions you receive.  You can then make improvements based on these figures to maximize the performance.

Traffics

11.  Link Building
No matter how good your website is and how relevant your Adsense ads are, without a decent amount of traffics, you will only be making a small amount of revenue, if any.  It is not easy to achieve a decent amount of traffics, but it is not impossible.  Some of the most common ways to gain traffics to your website include Link exchange, Directory listing, entering in online communities and making use of social bookmaking systems.
12.  Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is one of the most successful and recommended methods of gaining traffics to your website and it is more than just a buzz words.  Optimizing your websites for search engines increases your website visibility and ranking, which in turn generates significant amounts of targeted and relevant traffics to your website.  Combined, search sites reach more than 130 million Americans or approximately 85 percent of all Internet users each month, ranking Search/Navigation among the most popular categories on the Web. Miscellaneous

13. A little maintenance goes a long way
Many people tend to overlook the maintenance part of the website.  In this case, rather than sticking to the same ad formats, or the same positioning of the ads, try experiment with different formats and positioning.  If they do not work, you could always revert the changes.  But if they do, that’s a bonus for you.
14. Do not click on your own ads
Honesty is the best policy.  Be honest with yourself, and do not try to increase your Adsense revenue by clicking on your own ads.  Google Adsense is really strict when it comes to fraud clicking, and before you knew it, your account could be banned and you could be owing some money to the advertisers.
15. When in doubt, ask
If you have some questions in mind, or are unclear about certain stuffs, don’t hesitate to ask the Google Adsense Help.
I hope you will find the above tips and tricks useful in improving your website to increase your revenue.

How to increase your CTR (Click through Rate)

What is CTR :

CTR is the % of viewers that actually click on your ad. CTR is different from impressions, which is the number of people who view your ad, whether they click through or not.
By improving your CTR with Ad-words, you achieve the following:
  1. Increase your traffic.
  2. Lower your CPC (Thanks to the Rank = CPC * CTR equation).
You should always try to improve CTR.

What Is a Good CTR:

A good CTR is certainly above the 0.06% rate that Ad-words asks you to maintain in order to keep your ad running for each keyword. If your CTR gets lower than that, your ad is disabled after it receives a thousand impressions. Certainly, 0.06% is not enough. But it’s hard to tell what is good and what is bad CTR.

CTR depends on the following things:

Keyword popularity:

Suppose your CTR for a keyword like “shoes” is 1.5 %. Is that good or bad?
Usually, a general keyword like that is also popular. These kinds of words generate a lot of impressions, but the percent of people that click on ads is very low. In this way, your 1.5% CTR is good. If you choose “repair school shoes” instead, you’ll probably get fewer impressions on this one, and fewer clicks, but still, a much better click through rate (CTR). This second keyword is not so popular, but it is much more targeted. When comparing two similar keywords a general and a specific one, you should see a big difference in the CTR they get as well as in their conversion rates. A keyword that has both low popularity and low CTR is actually low value.

Your competition:

To follow Same example, we expect a popular keyword like “shoes” to have a hard competition. This means higher CPC , and fewer chances for you to get clicks. But it’s very possible that few people are bidding on “repair school shoes”  and in this case you have all the viewers of your ad to yourself.
There’s no low, high or average CTR. You have to take into account the circumstances mentioned above.

How Keywords Strategies Influence CTR:

General keywords generate a lot of impressions but few click-through and even fewer conversions, because they can’t really filter the potential customers. Specific keywords on the other hand are more focused, therefore they have more power to select potential clients.
Use of keywords for increasing your CTR:
  • Avoid using very general key-words (shoes).
  • Focus on using targeted keywords which describe your actual products or service in a rather specific way (repair school shoes).
  • Collect all related keywords in targeted Ad-Groups.
  • Create ads that are highly targeted to the keywords in that Ad-Group.

How To Increase Page Impression?

Nowadays, webmasters and bloggers have started earning money by placing ads on their site. Business people, who are looking for sites to place ads, will look for sites with maximum traffic to get maximum impressions. Impression refers to number of times a page is visited.
If you are running a site or blog, then you can earn quite an amount of money by placing ads. All you have to do is raise your site traffic and sell ad space. Selling can be done easily by placing your message on popular discussion forums like Digital Point. You have to raise site traffic.
Here are some tips to earn more:

Fresh content:
Regular, posting of fresh articles related to a specific niche is the best way to attract more visitors.

Related Post:
Provide lists of related posts at the bottom of article. This make visitors click on more links on your blog and visit another page which in turn raises the page impression. You can also provide links to old topics that are archived in your site.

Back-links:
Get more back-links to your site. This can be done by submitting the site URL in bookmarking sites like Delicious, submitting articles with back-link to your site on social sites like Digg, Reddit, Propeller, Mixx, etc, participating in discussion forums and exchanging links.

Category:
List out categories in the side bar, to let visitors know there’s a lot in store for them to click on and read. While choosing categories think about your niche.

Social Networking:
Participate in popular social networking sites and join groups related to your niche. You can recommend others to promote your site.

9 Tricks Used To Triple AdSense Earnings In 30 Days

I have been using Google Ad-sense to monetize my blogs and websites for as long as I remember. In fact it was the first method I ever tried. Over the years I migrated to other methods, which made Ad-sense become merely an inventory filler. I was still making around $1,000 monthly from it, but whenever I could I would use other methods over it.

1. I added units to my Big Websites:

Daily Blog Tips and Daily Writing Tips are my largest websites in terms of traffic. They are getting close to one million monthly page views. Despite that I was not using Ad-sense on them, mainly because the direct sponsorship model was working relatively well.
Some months ago I decided to load some Ad-sense units on the sites, however, and the results were very positive. Around 70% of the boost I generated to my earnings came from these two sites. At the same time I managed to keep the other monopolization methods working fine, and no reader ever complained about the new ads.

2. I added units to my Small Websites:

As many webmasters do, I have a bunch of small websites scattered around the web. Some are on free hosted platforms like Blogger, and others are self hosted sites that I abandoned along the way. Most of these sites still get traffic, however. Not much, but combined the numbers get decent.
I figured that adding Ad-sense units to all these sites could yield some money, and I was right. The main reason is that, since these are abandoned sites and don’t have loyal visitors, I can place the units very aggressively. The result was a very high CTR, which compensates the small traffic levels.

3. I used the Large Units:

If you want to make money with Ad-sense you’ll inevitably need to use one of these units: the (336×280) large rectangle, the (300×250) rectangle, the (120×600) large skyscraper or the (728×90) leader-board.
Whenever I tried to use smaller units the results were disappointing.

4. I placed the Units above the Fold:

My first trial was to place the (336×280) large rectangle between the post and the comments section of my blogs. The results were OK. I then decided to try placing them below the post titles for one week, and the CTR skyrocketed. In fact I still need to find a placement/unit combination that will beat placing a 336×280 unit below post titles.

5. I Focused on Organic Traffic:

Main concern with adding a large Ad-sense unit right below my post titles was that some of the loyal reader's could get annoyed with it. At the same time, I knew that loyal readers become ad blind quite fast, and that the bulk of my money would come from organic visitor.
To solve this problem I decided to display the large rectangle only on posts older than seven days. It worked like a charm, as loyal readers dont even notice the ad units when they are browsing through my recent posts, and organic visitor's almost always see the ads because they usually land on posts older than seven days.

6. I started using Ad-sense for Search:

I was not sure how much money I would be able to make with Ad-sense for Search, but I was not happy with the search results provided by WordPress, so decided to give it a shot anyway.
Currently I am making around $63 monthly with Ad-sense for Search. It is not much, but if you sum it over one year we are talking about $723. On top of that the search results are as relevant as you’ll get, so it is a win win situation.

7. I started using Ad-sense for Feeds:

Another Ad-sense product I decided to try was the Ad-sense for Feeds one. We opted to display the ads below my feed items. The results here were pretty good, both in terms of CTR and earnings.
You obviously need a large RSS subscriber base to make this work, butWe  guessing that even with a couple thousand subscribers you could already make $110 monthly from feed ads.

8. I played around with section targeting:

Section targeting is an Ad Sense feature that allows you to suggest specific sections of your site that should be used when matching ads.
WE found that on niche and small websites section targeting can help a lot. Often times, Google was displaying unrelated ads on these sites because there weren’t enough pages.

9. I tested with Different Colors and Fonts:

If you enabled both image and text ads on your units you should be able to customize the colors and fonts. We did some testing with both of these factors, and it helped to increase the numbers.
Just need to track your CTR for a couple of weeks. Then change the color or font and track it for another week, seeing if you can beat the original CTR. If you can, keep the new format. If you the performance decreased, try a new color or font and track the CTR for another week, until you find the another combination.

Google Adsense Tips, Tricks, and Secrets

You can build your website around general topics or niche ones. Generally speaking niche websites work better with ad-sense. First off the ad targeting is much better. Secondly as you have a narrow focus your writing naturally becomes more expert in nature. Hopefully, this makes you more authority in your field.
If this is your first try at building an ad-sense website, make it about something you enjoy. It will make the process much easier and less painful to accomplish. You should however make sure that your topic has enough of an ad inventory and the payout is at a level you are comfortable with. You may love folk dancing, but the pool of advertisers for that subject is very small.
Everyone wants ads on their website that make $37 or more a click, however the number of advertisers who are willing to pay that much is pretty limited.

New Sites, Files and Maintenance:

When you’re building a new site don’t put ad-sense on it until it’s finished. In fact I’d go even farther and say don’t put ad-sense on it until you have built inbound links and started getting traffic. If you put up a website with “morel gypsum” dummy or placeholder text, your ad-sense ads will almost certainly be off topic. This is often true for new files on existing websites, especially if the topic is new or different.

TIP: If you start getting lots of traffic from a variety of (IP’s) you will speed this process up dramatically.

I put the header, footer and navigation in common files. It makes it much easier to maintain and manage. I also like to put my ad-sense code in include files. If I want/need to change my ad-sense code, it’s only one file I have to work with.

TIP: I also use programming to turn the ad sense on or off. I can change one global variable to true or false and my ad-sense ads will appear or disappear.

Managing URL’s and channels:

Ad-sense channels is one area where it’s really easy to go overboard with stats. You can set up URL channels to compare how one website is doing to another. You can also set up sub channels for each URL. If you wanted to you do something channels like:
  • domain1.com – 728 banner.
  • domain1.com – 336 block.
  • domain1.com – text link.
  • domain2.com – 728 banner.
  • domain2.com – image banner.
  • domain2.com – 336 block.
  • domain3.com – 300 block.
This is great for testing and knowing who clicks where and why, it makes your reporting a little wonky. Your total number will always be correct but when you look at your reports with a channel break down things will get displayed multiple times and not add up to correct total.

TIP: At the very least you want to know what URL is generating the income so be sure to enter distinct URL channels.

Site Design and Integration:

Once you know you are going to put ad-sense on your website you’re going to have to consider where to put it. While every website is different, Google has published some heat maps showing the optimal locations. No surprise that the best spots are middle of the page and left hand side. Now I’ve done really well by placing it on the right, but you should know why you’re doing it that way before hand, and be prepared to change it if it doesn’t work out.
Google has also has published a list of the highest performing ad sizes:
  • (336×280) large rectangle.
  • (300×250) inline rectangle.
  • (160×600) wide skyscraper.

TIP: When working on a new site or new layout you may want to give each location it’s own channel for a little while until you understand the users behavior.

Another (Way) OR ‘trick’ that can increase your CTR is by blending your ad-sense into your body copy.

TIP: Try changing all of your page hyperlinks to a high contrast color (like dark red or a bold blue) then change the ad-sense title to the same color.

Use Blogrush to Turbocharge your blog traffic

Bloggers are always running after ideas and new tips to get more traffic to our blogs. This traffic is the prime reason why we bust our backs day in and day out writing new posts everyday so that someone somewhere reads it and appreciates it. The more people read it and appreciate it we all get a kick out of it. That this leads to a small profit to us is a small matter.

Everyday I scan the net for new ways, Its called Blog-Rush, and what it basically does is that when you add this small blog-rush widget on your blog, you will get to see a list of posts posted on the blogs by other blog-rush users. The system works on the principal of reciprocity.

This gives an enormous visibility to your blog as well as you benefit from the affiliate program of the system. This widget shows the first 42 characters of your post titles, therefore writing good titles within 42 characters is of the essence if you want good traffic from the Blog-rush network.

Top Paying AdSense Keyword Lists

The Ad-words prices are not, what the publishers get from the Ad-sense clicks, but they give a strong idea about the income chances from different keywords. So if an Ad-words ad is expensive, it must also be a high paying Ad-sense keyword, i.e. it gives a higher income per click.

1. Google Puts The Ads According To Your Instructions.

Now when you have picked one high paying Ad-sense keyword, you have to optimize your page or blog posts using that particular keyword only. By doing this, you let Google to know, which is the keyword or topic your Tale is about

2. Google Free Keyword Tool Includes Ad Costs.

I strongly prefer so called long tail keywords, because they are more accurate and include more independent keywords. When you do the keyword research, do it with Google Keyword Tool, which is free and which includes also the estimated ad costs.

With Google Keyword Tool you can also check, how many visitors will land on the particular page. This is useful, because you do not need a high paying Ad-sense keyword, which has nil or a very modest amount of traffic. The idea is to optimize the choice between the traffic figure, the strength of the competition and the ad price.

3. You Have To Choose Ad-sense Only or Ad-sense And Links.

If you market some registered programs through product links on your page or post plus want a decent Ad-sense income or to increase Ad-sense revenue, you have to think, whether it is wise to split the visitor interest between Ad-sense ads and the product links.

The idea of every action we do, is to max. the profit. A high paying Ad-sense keyword is a good way to do this. What it takes is some keyword research, but the reward is a long term one.

Top 10 Ad-Sense Tricks To Boost Your Commission

The self-proclaimed Ad-sense gurus and experts are sharing this insider knowledge, for a fee. You can learn all these secrets from them, as long as you buy their e-book, sign up for their seminar or purchase their newsletter. But I'm going to share all their Ad-sense tricks for free.

1) Color code your ads to match your web site palette . Don't use frames around your ads. Instead, in the Ad-sense code generation interface, make sure you choose the same color as your page background for the ad frame and the ad background.

2) Try not to use the traditional horizontal banner style or leader-board image ads because people are blind to them.

3) Use Google's own Ad-sense optimization tips and visual heat map to assist you in deciding where on your page to place your Ad-sense ad code.

4) Research competitive keywords using a keyword research tool such as Keyword Discovery or grab a list of the most popular keywords from various sources and use them in your web site pages where relevant. This article is a good source of frequently searched keywords. Targeting popular keywords should trigger Ad-sense ads on your pages that utilize those keywords. The more popular the keyword or phrase, the higher Ad-words advertisers are generally willing to pay per click for it so the higher your commission on those clicks.

5) Incorporate the Ad-sense code into your page so that the ads look like a regular part of your site. You can see an example of this on the Internet Dating Stories site where link ads are incorporated within the regular left hand navigation of the site under the heading "Feature Links".

6) Use Google's new 4 and 5 link ad units wherever possible.

7) Place arrows or images next to your ads to draw attention to them. You can see two different versions of on this search engine article library page at the top (where a pointing hand directs your eye to the ad) and the bottom where 3 images draw your attention to each of the three Ad-sense ads.

8) Use the full allowance of multiple Ad-sense ads on each of your pages - 3 regular Ad-sense ads, plus 1 link unit. Use careful placement of these ads so they blend into your site and don't distract from your content. Clever use of this allowance can be seen on this page about bad Internet dating stories where you see:

- 1 horizontal 4 link ad unit towards the top of the page under the first paragraph
- 1 vertical skyscraper text ad unit about halfway down the left hand side under "Sponsor Links".
- 1 horizontal text banner unit at the bottom of the page with images above each ad to draw attention to them.
You can also include 1 Ad-sense referral button in addition to the 3 other units.

9) Tailor your page content to a particular niche or focus. Page content that is tailored towards a specific theme is more likely to trigger Ad-words ads that closely match the content and are therefore more likely to interest your visitors and inspire them to click.

Increase Your Adsense Earnings With Different Sizes and Placement

Most of the time, publishers use a single template for all of their page/posts; however, this doesn’t always give the highest payouts. If you are using WordPress, this feature was recently added. If you haven’t done any Ad-sense optimization recently, I’d suggest reading the Ad-sense Optimization Techniques post from the Ad-sense Blog. Using the techniques there, you can make changes that will quite often have a dramatic impact on your earnings.

You can see that the earnings for any single page on one my websites is fairly consistent for most of the year. However, right after reading and implementing the changes from that Ad-sense post mentioned above, I changed the placement and size, You can see earnings showed a nice increase. More importantly, the earnings have remained at a higher level. Let me put it to you another type: for less than 13 minutes worth of work, I was able to nearly quadruple the amount of money that page generated in a month. So it might be something you want to try.
  • Look for pages with good or better traffic that aren’t generating much revenue
  • Put those pages into custom templates,
  • Experiment with different ad placements, colors, and sizes
  • Try to let each experiment run for at least a week
  • Look at Ad-sense revenue–don’t be lured off track by high CTR or high eCPM
  • Once you have found the optimal format, try it on other pages and see if revenue increases
